RTG Casinos

Real Time Gaming (RTG) are one of the top casino software providers around and whilst they may not be the very best they certainly aren’t too far off. The company was originally based in Atlanta but subsequently relocated to Costa Rica where they are now based. Founded in 1998, shortly after rivals Microgaming powered the first online casinos in 1994, they were sold to Hastings International in 2007 and provide software for some of the biggest online casinos around, as shown in the table below.

Unlike some of their rivals they give a lot more freedom to the casinos themselves and whilst this does have some pros, there are also things to watch out for. As a player it means that you may not feel quite so at home when you move from one Realtime Gaming casino to another as the differences will be more marked than, say, between Playtech-powered casinos.

About RTG

RTG, unlike some of their biggest competitors, view themselves simply as a provider of software. They let the casinos control the appearance of the casino, the payouts of the games and the customers the casino targets. On the plus side, this can lead to innovation and also means that Realtime casinos are more likely to welcome players from all over the world but on the downside it means that some RGT casinos are faced with less scrutiny of their practices and the software in itself holds little or no weight as a seal of approval.

That said, Realtime themselves are thoroughly secure and trustworthy, with exceptional levels of encryption, the fairness of games certified by Technical System Testing and software and games that are some of the quickest out there. Speed can be a big issue at some casinos but here you should have no problem blasting through wagering requirements and clearing your bonus in no time at all.

RTG Casino Games

RTG offer an excellent choice of games with about 130 to choose from, either in instant play or download versions. Some casinos offer a slightly wider choice of games if you download and gameplay is usually a little smoother too. All the usual table games are there and whilst there are a few different versions of classics such as blackjack and roulette, you won’t find the exceptional array you will get at the biggest software companies. RTG do offer Keno, video poker, slots and a huge number of progressives though, with prizes across the latter network usually totalling around £2m-£3m and individual jackpots often in excess of £1m.

As alluded to earlier though, it is the speed of the games that it Realtime’s biggest plus, along with excellent graphics and sound. These three things are probably the most important to a player and that is why RTG are considered to be up there with the top software providers.

RTG are a superb option for players who don’t need a huge selection of slots but just want to play well-designed games quickly and easily. Provided you choose with care which casino to play at there are no problems at all with security or safety and all in all Realtime are certainly a good performer.

Whilst they don’t have the big branded slots that some players like there is still a good choice of slots with similar functionality, although due to the way RTG licenses its product you should check that pay ratios at one casino match those you are used to at another. However, it is important that we don’t tarnish Realtime with the same brush we would some casinos that use its software and, as said, all in all RTG are doing a decent job.
